Since the passage of Obamacare, the country has gone into absolute meltdown. But I’m not here to argue what’s right & wrong but rather what’s going on at the core of this argument. It has basically nothing (speaking in absolutes) to do with syringes, unborn babies, or the like. In a spite thematic outfold of pessimism & unwillingness to accept new ideas (which, in fact, are in no way new & existed in the beginning of the 20th century and during the great depression), virtually we have a problem moving forward. A new idea for healthcare steps out of the realm of the politics we had known circa 8 years previous (side note: we knew unnecessary war, ok sweet). But the true, sad, and unacceptable fact of the slur is that the partisan that has been created holds no punches from anyone. The congress had such a problem dealing with this bill & the rewording/refactualizing of it because it dealt with many risking their necks for their beliefs in lieu of the criticism. The minute some “stepped out of line” so to speak, it was for or against. Since when did we start seeing everything in black and white, or rather red and blue? This is effective historically (and withholding) on both an inter and intrapersonal level. In order to move forward, we can’t see the pragmatic premise on which we have been theory-driven for ages. Fear of difference is no new phenomenon. For so long, many Americans have gotten so used to this enveloped & mind-created “american dream”, but lose sight of the reality of the fact that America is truly full of ideologically-driven oppression. Racism exists. Hegemony exists. So, for a moment, if we would wake up from the slumber…perhaps we could get a chance to re-dream. Re-dream for that which could reflect a true realm, in all of its ugliness & progressively try to fix it.
